Coney Island is one of many green spaces found in Singapore and around the Punggol area.

Facts about Coney island

At Coney Island, visitors will be able to see a wide range of habitats such as coastal forests, grasslands and mangroves.

Locally endangered animals like the Smooth-Coated Otter and the Red Junglefowl can be found there. The future plan for Coney Island is to become an interim park and an area zoned for sports and recreational purposes.

There used to be a bull that roams around Coney Island, which passed away in 2016 due to a heart and lung complications.

There is also an abandoned mansion in Coney Island that was built in 1937 by Aw Boon-Haw which was heavily damaged during the Japanese Occupation. Mr Aw and his brother, Boon-Par were the ones were the founders of the iconic Singaporean ointment, ‘Tiger Balm’.

Activities to do:

  1. Cycling: Rent a bike at the Punggol Settlement as it less time-consuming and tiring to cycle than walk around Coney island.
  2. Sightseeing: Take pictures of different species of plants and animals as it is home to over 80 species of birds and plants that are extinct on Singapore mainland.
  3. Exploring the beaches. Visitors can explore the beach and have a good view of Pulau Ubin and Johor.
